 Halogen bulbs are similar to incandescent bulbs in construction, but not in performance, the halogen bulbs filament is allowed to burn at a much higher temperature in an atmospheric vacuum—radiating a much whiter light. The presence of active halogen compounds [containing bromine and iodine] better regenerate the tungsten filament, making these bulbs last longer and perform at a higher, consistent output throughout their lives.
